In the city centre you can indulge in some retail therapy, with stores of international labels as well as elegant shopping arcades lined with high-end boutiques, interior design and delicatessen stores. For exploring Hamburg’s young and individual fashion scene, with studios of designers like Anna Fuchs or Herr von Eden, the quarters Schanzen- and Karolinenviertel are the places to go.

Hamburg’s Nightlife: The Beatles Loved It!

Hamburg has a whole world to discover at night: The city is the perfect place to go on a culinary tour around the globe. Almost every cuisine from around the world is represented in a range of restaurants - as well as typical Hamburg dishes, such as pan-fried fish, Eel soup and Labskaus. A night out in Hamburg is unthinkable without a visit to St. Pauli and the Reeperbahn (the former "street of sin") offers nowadays a long list of pubs, clubs and bars. Here you can also retrace the steps of the Beatles, who started their incredible career in these clubs.

Vibrant City on the Waterfront

Futuristic architecture in the recently built HafenCity, the unique Speicherstadt (historical warehouse district) and the Alster lakes in the heart of the city all together shape Hamburg’s special urban flair. With HafenCity, the largest urban development project in Europe, Hamburg is reinventing itself. While here the glass structures of Elbe Philharmonic Hall rise high up, the neighbouring historical warehouse district is shaped by more than 100-year-old red brick houses criss-crossed by canals. Take a boat tour and explore these unique districts!
