What can I do if I can’t take my flight?
If you can’t take your Germanwings flight, there are various things you can do:
- Change the date of the flight
You can change the travel date of the booked flight up to 30 minutes before departure, within the framework of our published schedule, providing the passenger name and the route are the same. You can do this online via our website, using our mobile or by contacting our call centre.
On the Germanwings website log in to the “My Germanwings” section with your username and password. You will then see an overview of the flights you have booked. Select the flight booking that you would like to make changes to. You can then choose a different flight date and rebook your flight for this day upon payment of a fee and, where applicable, the difference in fare price.
Passengers who added the flex option when booking the SMART or BEST fares can rebook their flight free of charge.
We levy an additional processing fee for booking changes by telephone.
If your booking consists of an etix® ticket number and/or a Germanwings flight booked with one of our partner airlines or at a travel agency, please contact the respective airline or travel agency to change the flight date. Different rebooking rules may apply.
- Change a name
You can also transfer your booking to another person. You can make a name change for a fee via the Germanwings call centre up to 2 hours before your departure by giving the booking code. If a reservation has several legs, please note that you can change the name of a passenger only up to two hours before the scheduled departure of the first (original) leg. If the current flight fare is higher than the price originally paid for your ticket, you must pay the difference in price.
If your booking consists of an etix® ticket number, we are unfortunately unable to change the name on Germanwings flights.
Passengers who added the FLEX option when booking SMART or BEST fares can cancel their flight for a fee up to 30 minutes before departure online, using our mobile services, via the call centre or the airport desk.
If your booking consists of an etix® ticket number and/or a Germanwings flight booked with one of our partner airlines or at a travel agency, and the booked fare allows cancellation, please contact the relevant airline or travel agency to make the cancellation.
If you have booked a flight with a partner airline on the Germanwings website and the booked fare bracket allows cancellation, please contact the respective airline to make the cancellation.
