Can I register baggage after I have finished the booking process?


You can register baggage after the end of the booking process. Standard surcharges will be levied.

SMART fare customers can check in one item of luggage weighing no more than 23 kg (no special or excess luggage) free of charge.

BEST fare customers can check in two item of luggage weighing no more than 23 kg (no special or excess luggage) free of charge.

You can subsequently register baggage up to 30 minutes before departure online in the “My Bookings” section, using our mobile services under "manage flights" and via our call centre.

At the airport you can register pieces of baggage belatedly up to 30 minutes before departure upon payment of the higher surcharge.

Please note that once you have checked in online you can only register pieces of baggage belatedly at the airport counter of the higher surcharge.

If you want to add extras online or using our mobile services, after logging in you will see your travel details and any services you have already booked. Simply add the desired number of items of luggage or excess luggage and click on “continue”.

You will then have to confirm payment and complete the booking.

You will then receive a new, updated booking confirmation.

Please note, that you cannot deselect luggage you have already registered.

Please note that if you register your first item of luggage online before the flight, you save a cosiderable amount on the supplement you would pay at the airport desk!

If your booking consists of an etix® ticket number and/or a Germanwings flight booked with one of our partner airlines or at a travel agency, luggage provisions may differ. Please contact the airline or travel agency for more information.
