Are there restrictions on the number and weight of pieces of baggage?
Germanwings levies a surcharge for each item of checked baggage.
If you check in more than one item of luggage weighing 23 kg, an additional excess luggage fee is levied.
Each passenger may check in up to five items of luggage at the desk. Each item of luggage must not exceed 32 kg in weight.
SMART fare customers can check in one item of luggage up to 23 kg in weight (no special or excess luggage) free of charge.
BEST fare customers can check in two items of luggage up to 23 kg in weight (no special or excess luggage) free of charge.
If you do not register excess luggage during the booking process online, via the call centre or subsequently online in the "My Germanwings" section on the website or in the "add services" section of our mobile services, you will be charged a higher flat-rate fee when checking in at the airport.
For special baggage, such as sports equipment and pushchairs/travel cots, special provisions apply. Please make sure your name or other personal identifying mark is displayed on each piece of checked baggage.
If your booking consists of an etix® ticket number and/or a Germanwings flight booked with one of our partner airlines or at a travel agency, luggage provisions may differ. Please contact the airline or travel agency for more information.
For flights operated by our partner airlines their luggage provisions apply.
