The "hill of spring" on the Mediterranean

Meaning the “hill of spring” on the Mediterranean, Tel Aviv was founded in 1909 a few kilometres north of the Arab port city of Jaffa. As well as the modern skyscrapers on the beach you’ll find exotic markets and the old harbour with its numerous bars and restaurants, where you can try the local specialities of hummus and shish kebab. It’s also worthwhile going to the “white city”, a UNESCO world-heritage site from the 1930s, to see the more than 4,000 houses built in the Bauhaus style.
