Pula - the cultural heart of Istria
Pula is the largest city on the Istrian peninsula in northwest Croatia. It is a tranquil place and combines Mediterranean flair and centuries-old culture.
The most famous attraction is the impressive Roman amphitheatre (the sixth largest in the world), which was built in the first century by Emperor Vespasian. Once a site where gladiators came to blows, nowadays it hosts summer concerts and theatre performances. As well as the many cultural highlights to take in, the city boasts on average 2,350 hours of sunshine per year, without mentioning the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic.
