How does the check-in work?
There are various ways you can check in for Germanwings flights:
1. Check-in desk at the airport:
You can view a list of the airports to which Germanwings flies, along with the relevant information on check-in desks at the airports under “Destinations & Airports”.

2. Check-in machines at Berlin, Cologne/Bonn, Hanover, Dortmund, Dresden, Munich and Stuttgart airports:
If your flight departs from these airports, it’s easy to check in using the machines provided.
Even if you use the self check-in, your hand luggage cannot exceed 8kg in weight or 55 x 40 x 20cm in size. If you also want to take larger and heavier items of luggage with you, simply use our baggage drop-off desk. The queues here are short as all you’re doing is dropping off your bags.
3. Online check-in:
On the website in the "My Germanwings" section you will find the "Web Check-In" area. You simply need your six-figure booking code or etix® ticket number and a printer. You can check in all passengers in your booking in one go when you check in online.

4. Mobile check-in:
It’s easy to check in with germanwings mobile check-in. If doesn’t matter where you are, you just use your Internet-enabled mobile phone. Choose a seat and wait for the mobile boarding pass to be sent to your mobile phone in a text message. You then proceed straight to the departure gate and scan the 2D barcode. No need to wait at the check-in desks, simply board the plane and leave the hassle behind. Type in “mobile.germanwings.com” into your mobile browser and select “check in”.

You cannot use mobile check-in if you have an etix® ticket number.
5. Check-in at Vienna-Mitte Station (CAT - CityAirportTrain)
Passengers departing from Vienna can check in at the check-in desk at Vienna-Mitte train station on the day of departure during the opening hours (05:00 – 21:00).
Check-in closes 75 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
This service is offered to all passengers with hand baggage, checked luggage as well as golf bags. We unfortunately cannot accept passengers with bulky luggage, such as skis, surfboards or bicycles, which have to be pre-registered.
