What costs are there to pay when I hand in baggage?
Germanwings levies a baggage surcharge if you hand in baggage at the check-in desk.
You can register baggage both during and after the flight booking process.
Please note that if you register luggage or excess luggage online before the flight, you save up to 50% on the supplement you would pay at the airport desk!
The surcharge per person and leg is 10 € / £9 (on domestic German flights add 19% VAT). If you register baggage at the airport, the surcharge rises to 20 € / £18 per item (on domestic German flights add 19% VAT).
Customers who have booked in the Best fare bracket can check in one item of luggage (no special or excess luggage) free of charge.
Customers who have booked in the Flex fare bracket can check in up to five items of luggage (no special or excess luggage) with a total weight of 20 kg free of charge.
If you check in more than 20 kg of luggage per passenger, an additional excess luggage fee is levied.
There are specific provisions for the transport of sporting equipment and special baggage.
If your booking consists of an etix® ticket number and/or a Germanwings flight booked with one of our partner airlines or at a travel agency, luggage provisions may differ. Please contact the airline or travel agency for more information.
For flights operated by our partner airlines their luggage provisions apply.
