Split is a favourite holiday destination thanks to its 1,700-year old history and many monuments. The highlight is Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, built by Emperor Diocletian in 295 A.D. The city and surroundings have numerous beaches, bathing and sports facilities. Amateur sportsmen are spoilt for choice with many tennis courts, water skiing, hiking or sailing facilities at hand. From Split take a car or boat to other resorts on the Dalmatian coast.
