For each piece of checked luggage registered online or via the call centre Germanwings levies a surcharge of € 6*. If you check in more than a total of 20 kg of luggage, a supplementary fee will be levied. In the cabin you are only allowed one piece of hand luggage, which cannot exceed 55 x 40 x 20 cm in size and weigh no more than 8 kg.

You can subsequently register baggage up to 3 hours before departure online in the My Germanwings section and up to 2 hours before departure via our call centre. At the airport you can register pieces of baggage belatedly up to 30 minutes before departure upon payment of the higher surcharge.

In line with new EU regulations, liquids are only allowed on board in restricted quantities:

Liquids (as well as gels and pastes, etc.) can only be taken on board if they are in containers that do not exceed 100 ml or 100 g. They must be packed in a transparent, resealable plastic bag, amounting to no more than 1 litre. This means you can take on board up to 10 liquids.

If you check in online or use the self-check-in machines, you can drop off your luggage at the separate "drop-off counter" at Berlin, Cologne/Bonn, Munich or Stuttgart Airport.

Speed things up by just dropping off your suitcase - up to 30 minutes before departure!

Even though we handle your luggage with great care, sometimes individual pieces of luggage do get misplaced. If you realise that your luggage is missing, please go immediately to our Lost & Found Counter in the arrivals area of the destination airport, where you will receive a reference number.

You can use this number to check the status of your luggage online.
