What arrangements are there for the transportation of animals?
Germanwings only transports cats and dogs in the cabin. A condition of carriage is that the animals weigh no more than 8 kg, including the transport box or bag, which must be closed and watertight while still allowing air to circulate. This box or bag may be no larger than length 25,5 cm x width 40 cm x depth 40 cm.
We cannot convey any dogs or cats weighing more than 8 kg including the transport container.
Category 1 restricted breeds, such as pit bulls, bandogs, Staffordshire bull terriers etc, cannot be conveyed for safety reasons.
The carriage of your pet is regarded as a supplementary service and can be booked on the second screen of our online booking procedure. If you are booking by phone, please tell our call centre on +44 (0) 870 252 12 50 (opening hours: 7am - 8pm) that you wish to travel with your pet.
There will be a charge of £17/€25/38CH/25USD/790CZ/205NO/225SE per animal per European flight. For flights within Germany 29.75 € (incl. 19% VAT) will be charged. Guide dogs are free of charge.
Due to national immigration regulations, we regret that we cannot convey any pets on flights to the UK and Ireland.
On 1 October 2004 an EU regulation came into force that sets out veterinary conditions for the transport of pets aimed at controlling rabies. If you wish to take your pet on a flight with you, it is important that you familiarise yourself with the appropriate entry requirements. Please read the regulation prior to booking or check with your vet, local veterinary department or the relevant border control service.
