Frequently asked questions

Can I reserve a seat when I book?

You can reserve a seat on a Germanwings flight in advance. We merely charge a fee of €5 per seat per flight. On German domestic flights VAT must be added. For FlexPlus customers and Germanwings card-holders seat reservation is free.

You can book your seat at your convenience up to 24 hours before departure - either during the online booking process, by calling the Call Centre or at the airport desk. You can reserve online in step three of the booking process ("Overview") by clicking on the desired seat on the seat plan diagram.  It is not possible to reserve seats online after the booking process is complete. To do so you must contact the Call Centre or reserve at the airport desk.

Please note that the following persons cannot sit in the row next to the emergency exit due to security regulations laid down by the authorities:

  • infants and children (up to and including 17 years of age)
  • people who bring animals on board
  • expectant mothers
  • people with physical and/or mental disabilities
  • people of reduced mobility due to their body size or age

When you reserve a seat next to the emergency exit, you declare that you and the people you are booking for do not fall into any of these categories. If you do, we reserve the right to allocate the person(s) in question a different seat. We will not reimburse the reservation cost. In case of doubt Germanwings cabin crew have the right to decide.
