The one-time city of the Moors on Portugal’s Algarve coast is a fantastic destination. Discover the magnificently long, often lonely sandy beaches and picturesque lagoons. Faro was destroyed in the great earthquake of 1755 and only a small part of the old town survived but there are still many buildings that convey the erstwhile beauty of the town. Outside the town, take a boat trip through the wetlands of the Parque Natural da Ria Famosa (Ria Famosa Natural Park) and see the countless species of birds that live there.

Car:

Take the EN 125 to the airport junction. Departures and arrivals are well signposted.
Journey time is around 15 minutes.

Bus:

Several buses connect the airport with various places in the town centre. Please check the timetable next to the information desk.
AEROBUS has a shuttle service between the airport and the town centre (journey time around 25 minutes).

Taxi:

There are taxis in front of the terminal building (journey time to the centre of Faro around 15 minutes and costs around €9).

Hire cars:

There are centrally-located Sixt and Avis rental locations at all Germanwings destinations. Reserve a car here and get great bargains.

The airport is 4 km from Faro. There is an information desk at the meeting point in the terminal building.

PLEASE NOTE that due to tightened entry and exit regulations in Portugal with immediate effect, children under the age of 12 travelling alone need written notarised authorisation from the parents for entry and exit.

Parking:

Car parks 1 and 3 are opposite the terminal building. Car parks 2 and 4 are behind car park 1. Special rates apply to long-term stays.
