Frequently asked questions

How does the check-in work?

1. Check-in desk at the airport:

You can view a list of the airports to which Germanwings flies, along with the relevant information on check-in desks at the airports under “Destinations & Airports”.

Click here to go to Destinations & Airports.

2. Check-in machines at Berlin-Schönefeld, Cologne/Bonn, Hamburg, Munich and Stuttgart airports:

If your flight departs from these airports, it’s easy to check in using the machines provided.

Even if you use the self check-in, your hand luggage cannot exceed 8kg in weight or 55 x 40 x 20cm in size. If you also want to take larger and heavier items of luggage with you, simply use our baggage drop-off desk. The queues here are short as all you’re doing is dropping off your bags. In Hamburg please use our check-in desk to check in your luggage.

3. Online check-in:

On the website in the "My Germanwings" section you will find the "Web Check-In" area. Select the legs and the passenger you want to check-in (maximum one leg and one passenger per sequence). To check in more passengers and/or more legs please repeat the procedure.
