Copenhagen isn’t just the capital of Denmark, it’s also the most popular and diverse city in Scandinavia. Especially worth a visit are the narrow, labyrinthine streets in the city centre. Ströget, Copenhagen’s liveliest street, is over a kilometre long. It’s one of Europe’s longest pedestrian areas with a myriad of shopping opportunities. Another must-see is Nyhavn with its smart gabled houses either side of the waterway of the same name. Here you’ll find Copenhagen’s gastronomic heart. And you can’t leave the city without seeing the city landmark, the diminutive Little Mermaid (1.25m) erected in 1913.
