What are the different ways of paying?
Germanwings Credit Card:
The easiest way to pay is with our Germanwings Credit Card (German).
If during the flight booking process you select “Germanwings Credit Card” as the payment type, your baggage limit increases by 10 kg and you can also reserve a standard seat for free.
Direct debit:
You can book by direct debit up to 7 days before departure. Direct debit is only available from current accounts in Germany. Please make sure that your account has sufficient funds both when you complete the booking and when the transaction actually goes through!
N.B.:
If you cancel a payment or there are insufficient funds in your account, the resulting costs will be added to the travel fare.
Please do not carry out any further money transfers to us if a debit card transaction is returned unpaid. We will contact you.
Payment by direct debit is only available for flights on offer in Euros.
Credit cards:
You can pay quickly and easily with MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, VISA or AirPlus cards. Eurocheque cards are not currently accepted. Your card must be activated for payment by telephone or over the Internet. Please ask the issuing bank if you are unsure. There is a transaction fee per booking.
There is a reduced transaction fee every time you book extras at a later date by credit card.
Voucher:
In the “payment” step, alongside “Germanwings card”, “credit card” and “direct debit”, you can also select “voucher”. Enter your voucher code and then check your details and the journey overview in the basket. Finally, click on “confirm your booking now” to complete the booking process.
If the fare of the selected flight is higher than the value of your voucher, you are of course able to pay the difference either by another method of payment or another voucher.
This voucher can be used once for Germanwings flights up to the declared value. Cash disbursement or return of remaining credit is not possible. The voucher can only be used for bookings made through Germanwings’ homepage. It cannot be redeemed by calling the Germanwings call centre. This voucher can only be used to book Germanwings flights and is not valid for packages (flight and hotel, etc.).
The voucher is only valid for the booking and travel period stated. This period cannot be extended. Nor do we make cash disbursements. Changes to bookings can be made in line with the General Conditions of Carriage. Germanwings does not accept responsibility for lost flight voucher codes. Replacement vouchers are not issued. The voucher can only be used for private purposes. It cannot be offered for commercial resale, unless with prior consent from Germanwings. We expressly forbid vouchers being offered by yourself or a third party on internet auctions or other web-based platforms for commercial purposes.
Cash:
Only bookings made in person at a Germanwings desk can be paid for in cash.
