Balaton - welcome to the Hungarian Seaside

Holidays at Lake Balaton mean sun, culture, hospitality and above all relaxation! Central Europe’s largest and warmest inland sea offers a great deal of variety. Whether relaxing on a sailboat, swimming and splashing around in the water (which is between 22°C and 30°C) or enjoying the view from a lakeside terrace – there’s something to suit everyone. The surroundings offer a sun-kissed wine-growing area in Badascony, 4 km of lake caverns at Tapolca or a buffalo reserve at Kápolnapuszta.

Finding your way to and from the airport

Car:
There is a solid road and motorway network that allows easy access to the airport from all directions.

Rail:
The nearest train station is 12 km away at Balatanszentgyörgy.

Bus:
A company called FLY-CAR operates regular services from the airport to trains stations in Budapest, Vienna, Graz, Sármellék and to the Hévíz and Balaton regions.
Scheduled public buses stop at the airport building exit. There is a direct bus to Sármellék train station.

Hire cars:

There are centrally-located Sixt and Avis rental locations at all Germanwings destinations. Reserve a car here and get great bargains.

At the airport

"FlyBalaton” Airport is near the town of Sármellek. The next biggest town is Héviz, 11 km away.

Parking:
There are parking spaces for short and long-term stays at the terminal.
