Welcome to the city of Mozart

Since 1996 the historic centre of Salzburg has been a UNESCO world heritage site. It is also well known for its Salzburg Festival. See the middle ages come to life in the Hohensalzburg Castle, the symbol of the city, or stroll through the rambling gardens of Hellbrunn Palace. Visit Mozart’s birthplace at 9 Getreidegasse or listen to the famous Mozarteum Orchestra. If you prefer a bit of jazz, visit the city during the “Jazzit”, “Jazz in the historic centre” or Jazz autumn” festivals. If you have a sweet tooth, you shouldn’t leave without trying a real Salzburg “Nockerl” (Salzburg soufflé) or some “Mozartkugeln” (Mozart sweets).

Travelling to and from Salzburg Airport (SZG)

 Car:
Salzburg Airport has its own motorway exit on the A1 western motorway (direction Vienna/Budapest, connecting with the A8 to Munich) and the A10 Tauern motorway (direction Carinthia/Villach, Italy).

Rail:
Trains to Salzburg main train station take around 15-20 minutes.

Bus:
There are regular public bus services between Salzburg Airport and Salzburg main train station, as well as to Zell am See, Maishofen, Saalfelden, Weißbach b.L., St Martin b.L., Unken, Bad Reichenhall and Wals.

Taxi:
There are taxi ranks directly outside the airport terminal where you will also find the check-in desks. Journey time from the airport to the main train station is around 10-15 minutes.

Hire car:
There are centrally-located Sixt and Avis rental locations at all Germanwings destinations. Book your hire care here and get great bargains.

At Salzburg Airport (SZG)

Salzburg Airport is 4km west of the city centre.

Parking:
There are various car parks by the airport building with a short, covered walkway connecting the car park with terminals 1 and 2. There are 1,921 parking spaces on seven levels.
