Catania – the gate to Sicily

Catania is on the Mediterranean island of Sicily, a late-baroque city in the Val di Noto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Discover the many churches and palazzi as well as the symbol of Catania, the Elephant Fountain on the Piazza del Duomo in front of the cathedral. This sunny island lies southwest of the "toe of Italy" and is symbolised by its famous volcano, Mount Etna. It is also known as having been the cradle of various cultures down the ages and that is why the island is known as the "and of a thousand faces".

Travelling to and from the airport Catania (CTA)

Car:
From Messina take the Messina-Catania motorway to the "Catania" exit. Then follow directions to Palermo and take the "Aeroporto" exit.

Bus:
There is a direct service from the airport to the centre and on to the station. Buses operate between 5:00 and 24:00 and leave every 20 minutes.

At the airport Catania (CTA)

The Catania Fontanarossa International Airport is the largest airport in Sicily, just 4 km from the centre of Catania. It has one terminal opened in May 2007. There is an information desk in the arrivals area. Check-in for Germanwings flights is on the first floor.
