Bari – lively city by the sea
Bari is the capital of the Italian region of Apulia and a lively port and university city on the Adriatic. Bari harbour has ferry connections to Croatia, Albania and Greece and its historical centre is a must-see with its 12th-century cathedral, the Castello Svevo di Bari and the Basilica di San Nicola. Also worth a visit is nearby Alberobello with its famous conical-roofed stone dwellings (trulli), a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996.
